| I still say if you get a stall and a good 750 carb that it may suprize you. While we are doing all this other work get a set of head gastets and we can pull the heads and do some much needed port work to free up some more ponies. |

Weather permitting, may do some much-needed exhaust work this weekend.
Finally had the ends expanded on the stainles flex-joint that will connect the Edelbrock Y-pipe to the 3" intermediate pipe(leak-free...I HATE exhaust leaks).
Provided I can produce an adapter "neck" to step the 2.5 inlet on my used 80-Series Flowmaster(damn thing is actually new, picked it up from the consignment rack at a local speed shop.....guy never installed it) to the required 3", this thing will breathe a lot easier.
Gotta get by Harbor Freight and check on a welder....get the body back in shape.
Granted, these things were flimsy even when new, but I just can't give up on it....LOL. |

My first Craig's List score........750 Holley double-pumper, mech. secondaries....$50.
It's with a buddy right now, working up the rebuild/modification list as I type this.
He's getting my 600 Edelbrock in exchange...not a bad carb, just not enough for my application...and there's a hell of a lot more support/parts for Holleys than the Edelbrock/Carter/Weber carbs. |

Well, not so fast.....
750 turned out to be a 600...I need to get a book on Holleys...no harm, SJ wanted it, so not out any $$$
Picked up the rebuild kit for the Edelbrock carb today, will at least get this one straightened out for the time being. |

No pics at the moment, but I finally yanked that damned bra from the nose...it was ROTTEN.
paint came off in damned SHEETS....will need to get some flex primer and agent for the paint when i fog the nose....yellow urethane just doesn't work for me.
Bills and almost-back-to-school-time have kept me from doing more to it, but all in good time.....picked up some VHT header paint, gonna blast'n'fog soon....rusty headers look low-rent. _________________ if it don't bother me, it shouldn't bother you |

still driving it and enjoying it as best I can.......
I've located an '83-84 Berlinetta hardtop for the right price.......I'm thinking drivetrain swap(bitch about my 305 all ya want...it was somewhat built when I bought the car, and it will continue to do so until i procure a bigger engine), possibly the nose/aero pieces from my Z onto it, and roll on.......rusted floors and a weak control-arm mount bracket is putting a crimp in my plans. _________________ if it don't bother me, it shouldn't bother you |

I didn't notice this thread until now!
Forgive me if I didn't read all the post.
Personally, I love it. I love the louver style hood on these. Me, if I had it and the budget, I think this is one car that would look just fine stock. Chrome doesn't hurt and the valve covers and breather look nice. Of course you know attention to detail it vital. Looks good man! Maybe a upgrade to a 350 would be nice too. LOL BTW what's the transmission in it? |

the trans is a TH350...originally a TH7004R, the swap was done long before I bought the car.
Getting closer to having the $$ together for the hard-top rebody...no more t-top rust loss for this guy!
I'm gonna re-use the nose and hood from my Z...may swap the factory ground effects and rear bumper cover onto the hard-top, may put it to a poll questionnaire.
A 350 is definitely in it's future....the overkill 305 in it is more fun than I ever thought it would be(the little bastard far exceeds expectations....would be neat to check the power on a dyno just for laughs), but no matter what I do to it, it's still a 305......the good thing about the things I've done to this engine is that they'll all transfer to a 350(or if hell freezes over, a small-block 400).
One advantage of starting with a new body: There's some things I'd like to do differently this time around for certain, one of which is definitely the exhaust.
The Edelbrock T.E.S. headers and y-pipe are good parts, but just too restrictive and limiting for what I'm envisioning....and I'm done with fighting the ill-fitting intermediate pipe(3", but poorly executed)....Long-tubes will definitely be replacing them, and I saw a dual-exhaust setup that utilizes small shorty mufflers and the pipes run the length of the rockers, but under the car...*not side-pipes*....the mufflers are on the ends, and turnouts turned slightly away from where they terminate at the front of the rear tires.
The A/C "box" will be eliminated, and have given some thought as to ditching the heater core as well.....but haven't commited to that just yet(having heat/defrost capabilities is nice).
I will likely re-use my seats/interior, but have also considered saying "screw it" and gutting it save for the essentials...but I will still be driving it on the streets, so that may be a bit much.
Sub-frame connectors will go on this thing...even with the strength of a solid roof, these bodies flex(roof tears at the rear upper window opening).
If anyone wants to add their own 2 cents to these ideas, by all means.... _________________ if it don't bother me, it shouldn't bother you

Man, tough room...LOL
That little Mouse actually has some guts, guys.....I have a short-block 350 (late model Vortec, heads are gone) that will provide the next level of fun.
I backed out of the hard-top Berlinetta...something told me there's body rot on it, and if that's the case, fuck it, I'll stick with what I already have!
Picked up a 4150 DP....have disassembled, cleaned/plated(looks brand-new), rebuilt and modded......new braided lines are being made from the pump to the carb, new filter and some other goodies as well.
It ain't setting any speed recoreds, but it's a work in progress...keep this in mind.
Holding off on pics of these until the stuff is installed....doing the lines and such in payments(rodding on a budgets sucks, but that's how it goes), but either myself or SpeedJunkee will be sure to post the before and after shots here FIRST.
Gonna try to go pick up the short-block 350 this weekend, see what I have to work with and come up with a plan of attack... _________________ if it don't bother me, it shouldn't bother you |
