This new section could use some more rides....

Here's my pile: a 1985 Chevrolet Camaro Z28.

http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb249/bowslap/100_0933.jpg

It's motivated by a 315 c.i.d. V8(.060-over 305)

Edelbrock cam, P/N 7102(.488 intake, .512 exh.)
matching pushrods, lifters and valvesprings
Performer RPM intake(squarebore)
Edelbrock Accu-Drive gear drive
Performer carb(#1406, 600 CFM electric choke, removed)
Edelbrock T.E.S. headers(AIR tubes removed and brazed over)
ACCEL HEI SuperCoil
Mr. Gasket advance curve kit
MSD StreetFire ignition box
MSD StreetFire plug wires
3" Summit exhaust

Its backed by a TH350 and the stock rearend at this time.

now, before y'all start crying FOUL over the 305: it was there and mostly built when I bought the car, so for the moment, it stays.

I have a Pro Billet distributor, MSD Street Blaster coil, new tall aluminum valvecovers9to clear 1.6 roller rockers), a Flowmaster 80-series muffler, and some other goodies on the way.

I have a line on a 350 short-block, so all of the stuff on the 305 will migrate to the bigger engine.

This isn't the nicest car on here by any stretch, but it's MINE.....took me 29 years to be able to have a project vehicle(I'm 34 now), kinda proud of what I have.

I'll update this as progress is made.

not a big fan of t-tops, but they're nice for a cruiser. (those ARE t-tops, right?)

Thanks for the responses, guys.

It's in no danger of being a "cover" car, but it's MINE, it's PAID for, it's FUN, and my children LOVE it.

KY, my wife's '83 is a 5-gear...the thought had crossed my mind to snag it out of it.....but divorce court just ain't worth it.

I'm curious to know how well the built up 305 pulls.

3rd gens are getting popular again because of their affordability. Nothing wrong with that. Many had posi, o/d trans for mpg, and tons of aftermarket support.

Lookin' good!

Never build a car for the "glory" of a magazine cover. Building it for yourself is the way to go and you're already on that track.

Scott....the "mighy mouse" pulls better than you'd think, but I can still tell EXACTLY where the heads just flat give up...the cam is really too much for the engine(or is the engine not enough for the cam? LOL)..off-idle through 2400 is worthless......needs a stall converter.

If I could nail a used set of the World S/R Torquer 305 heads for cheap, I'd slap'em on with some new valvesprings and 1.6 roller rockers....just to see what it'd do.

Still up in the air on the 350 deal...still want one, but having to wait on a friend of mine to see if he can get ahold of it for me.

Distributor came in today. It's actually a Mallory Unilite made for Big End BY Mallory....has the connector harness that'll link directly with the StreetFire box. Comes with an advance curve kit, gonna put it on a guy's dist. machine and fine-tune it(guy knows his stuff....gonna suck up the knowledge like a damn leech!).

I'll get some pics of the new stuff and post ASAP(read tomorrow).

Right on...

If others dig what I have, that's great, but at the end of the day.....I bought/paid for it like everything else I've ever had, and it only has to please ME.

Besides, if it looked like a cover car, I wouldn't be inclined to drive it...and that's kinda missing the whole damn point.

Exactly. Everything on my place gets used. I don't want to just 'admire' stuff, especially my junk. So build it to suit yourself, then enjoy it! Very Happy

Oh, believe me...I DO.

Every one of my vehicles are maintained as such so that at any time, if I need it to go from one end of the nation to the other, they're ready.

When I bought this car, it was as a daily driver.....I've had it out on local stuff, and have had it on long-distance runs(over 200 miles from home)...other than losing a couple of header bolts, no issues whatsoever.

OK....was just gonna drill the valvecovers for the breather and PCV valves and install when I got the 1.6 roller rockers they were purchased for...

But, I couldn't resist.....the gaskets were leaking anyway(silicone/steel core gaskets this time...HA!)...

Just picked up the new intake gaskets a little bit ago....will pull the intake soon, de-grime the damn thing, and put it back together again....with the new aluminum swivel t-stat housing....and then stab in the new distributor, figure out where i can/want to mount the new MSD Street Blaster coil.

BTW, that distributor is from Big End, but it's made by Mallory.....in the USA. Assembled in Chicago by the folks at VSI....I do my best to ensure my $$$ stay at home, for those keeping count.

Roller rockers, a shift kit for the TH350, stall converter, and some hood pins(tired of fighting the hood latch....I've owned 3 of these 3rd-gen F-bodies, all the same story....the factory latches flat SUCK).....yes, HOOD PINS.

Those headers just have surface rust.....gotta pull'em off, clean them and paint......

It has more power than he really gives it, the biggest problem he has right now is it really needs a stall converter and a better carb. I think the car would be alot better with a 750 3310 series on it and a small stall.
