convertible. so from what i understand the underside is already pretty well reinforced. there is a plan for more than that too. _________________

Sounds like you and the boy are having a good time....just remember to run it up and down the road with open headers at least once.
I've been under a couple of ragtop 'Stangs.....it looks like they're better reinforced than the GM F-twins. _________________ if it don't bother me, it shouldn't bother you |

im 13 years older than him so im his main car influence. I take no responsibility for the probe, the prelude, the galant vr4, or any others he bought and i gave him hell for.
ill tell you what though he has been helping wrench since he was 8 or 9. he took the front end off my bust ass escort when he was that young. I hooked him up with the ratchet and showed him what to take out and when it was ready we lifted it off and put the replacement back on.
he was pissed he didnt get to do the hatch but i thought it was too heavy and didnt want him hurt.
by the way ill never forget the look on his face when i let him use the 10k rpm grinder with the wire cup brush on my bumper. he was like 11 and it threw sparks everywhere. he fucking LOVED that shit! lmao!!! i put the goggles on him and put a thick jacket on him. < safety first? _________________

if i can get his ass motivated we need to haul his tools to the place and get some stuff done.we got a few things done yesterday but really IMO the most important thing is we really looked at it and made a plan for the fuel line and pump. < "plan" is stretching the point abit... keep reading.
its gonna be sketchy near the end as his driver needs to come apart to get parts for the project. so at some point, for a few days atleast, there will be 1 partially unassembled car and 1 partially assembled car.
its gonna be important stuff too. the 8.8, the driveshaft, the double hump crossmember, the steering rack... all kinda shit.
the engine still isnt out of the machine shop. they didnt like the rods so we were on hold for new rods. eagle sir rods. thats after a few weeks of being on hold for the guy to get the engine to his machine shop buddy and a few weeks for the machine shop buddy to do it. so now we are waiting on balance and it should be ready to go together.
the heads are being cleaned up and rebuilt.
moving the car kinda put a hitch in the plan but not a very big one. just cost of the storage and cramped space but the trade for that is a smooth clean floor and a roof over us.
we need to figure out the fuel pump thing for sure. its pipe thread and he got lines but they dont have anywhere to seat. so... i dunno how we are to get the regulator to fit onto it and make it work. maybe we are missing parts. i dunno I have not adapted EFI fuel system to carb before. i have seen it done in magazines but... in practice its different.
also there is a issue with wiring a controller up. i would prefer to not have the fuel on a switch on the console in a street car. thats just me.... _________________

I know the feeling of having both of my cars apart at the same time. When I bought the Impala, the engine was still in the 73 Impala. That was my daily at the time. For three days, I had two cars and one engine dangling from a hoist in between them. _________________
