gamble, do you get on dipshift.com at all? there are guys there that can give you some real good advice. Camaro Eric, CDMBill, JeffMcKC. "tune around it" seems like a bad plan to me, and I only do tuning LOL. |
are you the one who tuned Jeff's car at the PGD's a couple years ago when he tried FI? |
If you're talking about Jeff McConnel's malibu, yes. He's on his third year of running the EFI and swears by it. He'll tell you how his combo picked up serious power when he ditched the carb, too. |

lost since? Don't let fact get in the way of a weak attempt to prop yourself up, Mark...
the one year since that Jeff's attended DW, he was winning his class until this happened:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5q7MALk84k
Sure doesn't look like an EFI or tuning problem to me, unless "too much power" and "too much traction" is a problem.
And if your intent is to make me look bad as a tuner, here's another fact for you:
-Whose the tuner who has the most EFI wins at Drag Week events?
-Which EFI system has the most Drag Week class wins in the history of the event?
Nevermind the fact that two of the class winners this year were tuned by me, and another one got second place in his class...
Or how about the fact that a 4-cylinder car not only won the smallblock P/A class, but also beat the average ET of the next three classes above him? Big Block P/A included?
Curious to hear what you have to say next? |

I don't know him that well but I am pretty sure in the stands he was cussing the FI.... then we got rained on and my buddy was being a real dick that day.... but i guess when you get EFI tuned out right in a NA app it's about the same as a carb.. wish I could afford it for the cool factor.... _________________ online auctions free classifieds |

lol. Jeff went with EFI because his more powerful combo didn't have any vacuum at idle. Street cars are expected to idle, Mark. And I do believe he stopped at a Walgreens on the last Drag Week, so... maybe it's not RiteAid but you get the picture.
A carb wouldn't make more power on an engine that it cannot run... are you trying to say that Jeff, whose built the arguably quickest street smallblock N/A motor in the world, doesn't know how to tune a carb properly? R O F L!!! I'll let him know that some kid in Jersey told me so.
Let's get this thread back on topic: compression on gamble's motor. If you want to argue all day Mark, start a new thread... |

I doubt he was cussing EFI. He went to PGDs with his "test engine" to see if he liked EFI or not. Guess he liked it because he's run my system ever since, and is coming back up here next weekend to retune his new heads/cam combo...
Did you take a look at what's under his hood? notice the crank trigger and coilpacks? Not something you can get out of the Jegs catalog, his ignition is hotter than any MSD (except a Pro Magneto) and cost less than a 6AL and coil. His computer is $900. He had the same amount of money in a custom carb, as he does his whole EFI and ignition system... |
