Just did a quick compression calculation on the 402. Using some rough numbers I came up around 10.25:1 which is about what I was guessing. Will that get by on pump gas, or do I need to drop some points?

good to know. Don't wanna put it together, just to have it detonate into pieces Laughing

A cam with some overlap will bleed off some cylinder pressure. You can't get crazy with ignition lead time.

shouldn't there be some discussion about quench area? some motors can run that much compression on pump, others will detonate way before that...

the more compression - the cooler it sounds
my next car will be 15:1 on methanol
the nova was almost 13:1

I doubt we can get that far if Gamble is going to use factory heads. You get what you get. Just have to tune around it.

10.2 will be fine if you don't run 2.43 rear gears..
as nothing is blueprinted in his math run(build)
it'll more than likely be 9.8 after all said and done..

well, used information from what I think is the replacement for the pistons I'm running. Apparently TRW piston L4420N is no longer made. Used a speed-pro one that appears to be it's replacement. Anyone find any information that piston? I can't

all piston compression listing ,use the rule
that the heads cc are the same as blueprint (most are bigger that spec)
and deck height is blueprint perfect, same with rod lenth, stroke/etc
if they list 10.2 for 118 cc heads,, it more than likely fall under that,, in a non blueprinted shortblock..
I'm thinking of returning the 10.8's and getting 11.8's

gamble, do you get on dipshift.com at all? there are guys there that can give you some real good advice. Camaro Eric, CDMBill, JeffMcKC. "tune around it" seems like a bad plan to me, and I only do tuning LOL.

this motor has been recently rebuilt. I'm not going to rebuild the heads, as they already have been. I'll check how far down in the hole, the piston is, but other than checking for damage, and a roller cam, she's just going back together.
