I'd say shop around b/c MP70's can be found from $400 - $1200 ($600 or so should be more likely) but the point is, it depends on what you buy and where... _________________ online auctions free classifieds |

most of what we used, was "used"
we hardly bought anything new. SO like 1fast72nova points out, it doesn't really help much.
As for being helpful, if you DID put something similar together, I'd very willingly give you all the free EFI tuning help you'd ever need. |

say the car was complete with 5.3 what would be needed to make 5-600hp and be driven anywhere? _________________ "Officer, the peace was already disturbed before I got there." |

there are a lot of ways to do that, but I'd say it needs:
(1) a poweradder
(2) a way to tune the EFI system
(3) whatever supporting powertrain and suspension upgrades necessary to hold and put down the power
Do you want this with turbo power? You can almost do it N/A (costs more IMO) but it's probably cheapest to make that kind of power with Nitrous. |

if i was talking spray there would be no need for questions. a basic 200 horse wet kit on a 5.3 with "my mom's trailbrazers efi" will put down 500hp. im saying 500hp all off juice and still get mpg.. _________________ "Officer, the peace was already disturbed before I got there." |

did you read the question you asked me? I answered it straight up. If you're so awesome that you already know the answer, perhaps don't ask me then?
Seriously, there are a million ways to make that power. You said "no juice" well shit, I can respond with somethng like "Heads, Cam, Intake, Exhaust, and Tune" and it would ALSO be a valid answer.
Are you asking me how to make 500-600hp with a turbocharger, EFI, and megasquirt? Learn to ask a specific question like a normal human, then you won't have to call me "dickhead" when I give a generic response to your really vague and retarded question |

Diesel engines. No cars that you'll find in a normal junkyard came with turbos that make any real power, unless you want to go with twins, even then - small exhaust sides make them "not a great choice" for bigger inch v8 domestic engines.
Holset HX35 turbos off of Cummins trucks can make 500hp on a gas engine when pushed. Powerstroke 7.3 diesel turbos, although they rotate the wrong way (thus negating upgrades in the future) can make 450-500hp apiece on gas engines.
Stepping up from there, it's best to have a friend who works at the Case/Caterpillar shop. We have a guy here in town who can put together big turbos for jut a few hundred bucks, using cores off of traded/older/broken diesel engines in things like earth movers, semis, track hoes, etc. |

which motor? a good rule of thumb (my own rule, no one else's so perhaps I am wrong) is how much torque that turbo supports on the diesel application.
are you talking about a DT466 motor? those had a number of different turbos on them.
You have TWO things to consider on the turbo when picking an appropriate one for your engine: the hotside, and the cold side. Hot side has to be sized right for your exhaust flow; compressor needs to be sized right for how many pounds per minute of air your engine's going to burn. |
