Its amazing to me that a stock 2 bolt block with every factory bolt still holding it together can survive that much power with ZERO damage seen anywhere upon teardown. If i remember right, 738 whp was the best number it made. Thats insane! Every hole blew 30 to 50% leakdown the one time i had the nerve to check it too. The saga must live on! If i can weasel it back from Hillbilly, i swear ill plunk it back in this winter guys!

738? not shabby for a stock 350.
We got 850 out of a 5.3 and it never lost any compression in 150+ passes in the nines (3000 lb car).
Then again, we hurt a 6.0 with a slight mishap at drag week this year, while making far less than 700. |

is what I found most interesting was this:
http://www.theturboforums.com/smf/index.php?topic=61219.msg1315366#msg1315366
| Quote: | | Anyway. The first pass on 10-12 pounds of boost with BFG Radial T/A tires was 13.45 @ 105.5 MPH and that was with a 2.206 60' time Very cold track surface and the tires were at 36 psi. The car pulled very hard once it hooked up somewhere in 2nd gear. |
I have a basically stock salvage motor in a truck running faster than that on my 1st and only pass.... 10-12 lbs of boost? maybe the turbo's too small cooking the air? _________________ online auctions free classifieds |

it was granny fresh, and $200 running.
The 4 guys putting it together, wanted a Fox chassis because they had parts lying around that worked: Jon had an old busted TH400 trans that he repaired for next to nothing (he knows TH400s pretty good); Mike had a decently built Mustang rear end, and some hopup suspension parts. A friend of ours, Lee Harvey (the guy who helped bust Cunningham cheating at Drag Week '05) gave us the engine for (I think) $250. Jim (parish) had a pile of tubing and metal to fab up the turbo system. They got a busted MP70 turbo off Ebay for next to nothing and rebuilt/balanced it for about $100.
In the middle of the project I moved to CA and went to work for Spectre; they had a pile of turbo parts they'd been traded at a swap meet that the owner said "donate if they can use them" so I sent them a real nice Tial wastegate and blowoff valve.
They used an MSD 6LS box for ignition control, and ran a Megasquirt-1 off the MSD's tach ouput to fire the injectors.
They later did some *serious* rocket science with the boost control on that car. It had subtle tricks that would have fooled any opponent on Pinks. Unfortunately, Pinks stopped filming new episodes (of the original show format) and the car never got the chance to compete. It ran a string of 9.40s on good gas at KCIR before it was sold last year. |

total was under $2000 for the guys but that doesn't include parts we already had lying around.
Jim spent some time on Ebay and Racingjunk.com and figured, with judicious useof used or cheap parts, you could build this car easily for $4000. |

do I look like jegs.com?
Here's a list of parts that you can research if you are interested in building a similar combo:
Masterpower MP70 turbo
100 lb/hr injectors
2 inline fuel pumps from a Ford 350 van
whichever blowoff valve is appropriate size for your turbo system
whichever wastegate is appropriate sze for your turbo system
MSD 6LS ignition controller (used stock LS1 coilpacks)
appropriate EFI regulator
etc.
They didn't spend a dollar on tuning (and I didn't tune the car either), but you have to be able to read and follow directions from www.megamanual.com - and have some patience.
The rest of the powertrain, I'll leave up to you. |

You asked me to do research for you, I could have been a HELUVA lot more "smartass" than I did. I'll tell you what parts are in it. The rest is up to you to figure out. |
