Looking good Ed, thanks for the update. I never did get to take Mary for a ride to get the feel of a 383, we'll run into each other somewhere and make it happen. _________________ Matt.

You might recall that the upper passenger door skin was really thin, with a lot of swiss cheese. I bought a door top from a guy in Illinois some time back, and started fitting it today.
After some serious measuring, I got out the trusty sawz-all and attacked the door. Looks kinda funny, doesn’t it?
You can see the door top is evidently from a sedan. Doesn't have the coupe's curvature along the top. After more serious measuring, lots of grinding, and making double-dog sure the inside door handle would still fit, it’s ready for welding.

Looking good Ed. Hopefully I'll get on the Galaxie this winter. Reni's talking about taking it on PT if we don't sell it. _________________ 2002 Lightning

#28= Ned Jarrett?
Ed, looks like you're making progress.......I'm envious of your garage and metal-working skills(I possess neither)!
Lots of surface rust.....do you plan on having it blasted? _________________ if it don't bother me, it shouldn't bother you |

I'm saving for that....I tried sanding, but to get it absolutely clean is taking off too much metal. I'm not convinced the 'encapsulator' products will be satisfactory in the long run. There's a company in KC that blasts with glass beads, then with plastic, then shoots it with epoxy primer. Hope to have enough to do it by the first of the year.....but may end up just buying the media and doing it myself in the driveway. _________________ Garage cleaning....gas powered leaf blowers aren't just for the yard anymore...... |

Ed, see if there's anybody that does soda blasting around you. I talked with some people around here and it was about $800 to do an entire car inside and out. Most of those guys are self contained too so they'll come to you instead of you hauling the car around. _________________ 2002 Lightning

Yeah, I'll check it out. I live an hour from KC, so they may not come that far. Thx. _________________ Garage cleaning....gas powered leaf blowers aren't just for the yard anymore...... |
