Just checked back.....
Earl is a cruiser. I built it for moderate power, and fairly good gas mileage. Stock 4-bolt .030 over 350, headers, Edelbrock intake/650 carb, A/C. Super T-10 w/hyd clutch, 79 Firebird posi rearend, 308 gears. Sucks out of the hole, but turns 2500 rpm at 70, gets 16 mpg. Great cruiser!
Been considering changing to 373's just to power it up a little. Also thinking about building a 383 for him, but then with $4.00 gas, I'm not sure that's such a good idea since we cruise more that we would burn tires off.......
We live 40 miles South of Kansas City.
Thx for the interest, guys.
Ed.

If you have not done the Hot Rod Power Tour, you are missing one of the best events ever! What an absolute blast. We're going again, can't wait.

I discovered that I had plumbed the distributor advance vacuum line to the wrong port on the carb......changed it over and Earl got a new attitude. He was pretty doggy out of the hole, but after I changed the hose I went out for a little 'test'. Burned both tires for 3 car lengths before I let up on the gas. Coulda done more. That's more like it! Very Happy

Poopski, you need to go back and buy it!

Oh, that old truck is probably long gone by now, it was a couple years ago. I think I seen your truck on 67-72chevytrucks.com forum, it was in a picture that someone had taken while on the Power Tour, would be a crazy if it was yours.

Yeah, that's Earl. There were some really nice trucks at every stop on the PT.
That one looks pretty good.....can't see the bottom of it very well, but it looks straight. If you come across another one, jump on it! Very Happy

You should post more pictures of Earl, maybe some interior and engine bay shots.

I'll load some more onto Photobucket in a day or so. In the meantime, you can see a few at this link:

You have to scroll down a little bit.
Thx,
Ed.

Believe it or not, Chrysler Inferno Red Pearl (PEL), from 2002. Pretty pricey stuff, but I thought it would really set off the curves and compound radiiuses on the truck, and it does. Only problem with it is that when you take a picture of it, the gold pearl reflects and makes it look a little orange. The truck is actually more red than photos show. You'll see the color on PT Cruisers.
You guys are kind to say that about my work!! Thanks.
