This car belongs to a friend here in Omaha. He put it together over the last 2 years. He wanted something "original" that was quick, and built out of affordable parts.
So, he took a '97 BMW 3-series (not actually an M3) 4 door car, beefed up the unibody and put a narrowed Ford 9" rear on a 4 (5?) link suspension. Moving forward, a TH400 trans with a 4500rpm converter - in front of that, Spidey's favorite motor! Toyota 2JZ. The engine had been abused in another car, so he freshened it up and raised the compression to 10.75:1 so it could take advantage of relatively cheap e85 fuel, great for boost! Then, a single Precision SC61 turbocharger, AEM engine management, and 160 lb/hr injectors on top.
We didn't have this engine on an engine dyno, just the chassis dyno. At 510hp to the wheels on a mustang chassis dyno, with this trans and converter that maps out to about 840hp at the flywheel.
Next step is, a solid rollcage over the winter, then take it to the track in the springtime.
