Don't plan on doing much over the summer performance wise, but here is what I'm going to do:
rebuild carb (if I can somehow find out which rebuild kit to get for the 2150)
New rear hatch seal (expensive, but needed)
New door handles if I can find them affordable
8-Track or cassette dial radio (anybody have one, I'm willing to trade Blaupunkt CD player and amp for it)
New springs (XJ leafs will work, will need to special order front coils)
New shocks
and mirrors
if I can find one cheap, aluminum valve cover, (hopefully with 4.0 head attatched) _________________ "If we ever forget that we're one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under."- Ronald Reagan

I'd install the amp..
and get an i pod.. and load your 8 tracks /catt on it..
catt and 8 tracks DO NOT like the heat in cars from the sun..
you will kill them.. and that will be that..
run the amp input cables to the driver seat. and you can plug the i pod into them..
or get a radio with an i pod input..
do the shocks..
you don't need new springs..
use door handles will work..
what years cross over..
and I'll look next time i"m j/y crawl'n |

I have an iPod, I don't like it, only a 2 gig.
What I would do is:
8-Track player, with 8-Track to cassette converter, and a cassette to headphone jack converter
My drivers side door handles barely work
With Eagles, 80-88 work for most things, Concord and Spirit also work _________________ "If we ever forget that we're one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under."- Ronald Reagan

Take the rear door panels off and clean and lube all the linkage from the hanled to the latch........check to see if the connectors are in good shape or broken....this wil likely be your issue not the handles.....you may be able to adjust the rods... _________________

When she gets back, I'll do that
front drivers side interior handle needs a new spring though, and I'm getting the whole handle for the price of shipping _________________ "If we ever forget that we're one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under."- Ronald Reagan

When the panels is off have someone actuate the handle.....you can see how the linkage works....once you establish what each rod/lever does you should be able to pick out where the problem is.......its pretty easy, just don't disconnect anything.....I suggest drawing a little sketch of the rods and where thay go incase one or 2 come off you will know where they go.....you can also use different paint pens to mark where they attach to... _________________

Hey kiddo, post up some pics of your car.....
Yeah, we've goven you shit for liking Eagles(and will likely continue to do so), but hey......something for everyone.
I'll offer what I tell my own soon-to-be 18 year-old son....concentrate on the essentials first, then move on to the fun stuff. Joe's got a great pointer for the door mechanisms...
BTW, why would you WANT such an antiquated stereo system? _________________ if it don't bother me, it shouldn't bother you |

because I have more 8-Tracks and cassettes than CDs, and the CD player just looks wrong in there
and I need the space where the amp is in the car for a CB _________________ "If we ever forget that we're one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under."- Ronald Reagan

i prefer paper to cell pics.....too much clutter and cell pics can be pretty shitty.....but...thats just me.....
if it wont oen or close sounds like the latch is tweeked and the rods are off _________________

That's an easy fix...the latch is bad or the return rods or clips are tweeked _________________
