your 10 to 1 of what ever VOLUME of air/fuel makes it into the cyl..
then it compresses it..
but if your not 100% full..
your not getting the cyl volume compressed 10 to 1
cause it was never a full 1
say the cyl is 47.35cid ( 1 cyl of a 350)
but only 30 cubic inches get in the cyl..
your not starting with a full 1..
so yes it still compresses the air 10 to 1 , but it's not a totally full cyl to start with..
so your not got the most air/fuel that the cyl can hold..
the engine almost gets a complete cyl fill at the torque peak.. |

My car is fine on reg, although once in a while I put in some higher grade stuff for no other reason other than I have some extra money
I fixed the headlights, changed the oil, and drove around
broke the emergency brake cable in the process.
How much is that gonna cost me? I need that fixed for when I go to VA, hilly area there _________________ "If we ever forget that we're one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under."- Ronald Reagan

your 55 is a limited use , toy..
not a daily driver, so the pain $$$$$$$$$
isn't that bad..
I just last w end laughed in a group of rodders at a show, cry'n about fuel cost in their 1000-1300 mile a year toys..
I with my dry,fast ,wit..
said.. ooooohhhh, even at 9 miles per gallon.. it's costing you
40 bucks more a season.. at the price now over a few months ago..
they turned, and then I said.. you must'a
never took the cars out last year..
as the extra 100 bucks that season.. must a of, bankrupted you..
and walked on..

Today, I drove around and followed a 350 powered Scrambler, blue, with blue ghost flames, I didn't know it was still in town
here is a picture of it from a few years ago when it was for sale
I also got an estimate for an alignment for the Eagle (That I cannot do at home) that is about $90 _________________ "If we ever forget that we're one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under."- Ronald Reagan

[quote="The ToadI also got an estimate for an alignment for the Eagle (That I cannot do at home) that is about $90[/quote]
again,, get the facts
90 buck alignment is a 4 wheel alignment..
your eagle has no adj. in the rear..
yours is a 2 wheel alignment..
should be 50 bucks..
as they'll more than likely . only set the toe, and let it go..
ask them why your being quoted the cost of a 4 wheel alignment. when the read is nonadj. able.. |

I spent the day messing with Carl's brand new 383. Unfortunately, it had a Q-Jet that "laying around the shop" on it. I found out it was off a 350 powered International Scout. You should see the size of the metering rods. It's amazing that fuel flowed at all. The carb was also fouling his plugs. I couldn't find a leak, but decided to get out my QJet that was originally on my Caprice's 454. We did a little mixing and matching parts (we used his base plate that had the linkage plate for the TV cable), and my carb parts for the rest. Tossed it together and threw it on. Carl still couldn't burn rubber with this motor. PATHETIC!! So, I did some tuning and, bingo, tire smoke.
It's a 10:1 383, Engle solid roller cam 248 at .050 and about 520 lift, AFR 195 heads and Dougs headers. Behind it, is a built 700R4 and a 4.11 geared 12 bolt. It should rip tires to bits with every touch of the big peddle.

Carb looks out of place lol....pretty engine
I put in a new rag joint, fixed 2 wire boots that were hitting the steering linkage, replaced the straight ones with 90 degree boots...much better. Need to replace the flasher and find out what is grounding out against my steering colum...I was changing that rag joint and kept getting shocked and seeing sparks...weak sparks but sparks none the less _________________

cleaned up some wires in the steering column, fixed the horn, tuned the carb, set the timing, cleaned the chrome, and fixed two plug wires that I wasnt happy with. Found a couple other wires that need attention under dash...toorrow I may try to wire up the old AM radio with the reverb knob.... _________________
